Tracy earned her first art award at the
age of six when her painting of a young girl surrounded
by sunflowers won a blue ribbon at a Los Angeles May
Day competition. She followed this during her teens,
winning honors at the National Scholastic Competition
for textile design, and has continued to paint over thirty
years. Her favorite medium is acrylic, however she is
also known for thick oil paintings of florals done entirely
with palette knives. She also creates many colorful watercolor
landscapes.
One of her strongest beliefs about art is that it should
add joy to its surroundings. "Encircled" by
trees which are backlit by the sun is her favorite place
to locate an easel when working en plein air. It creates
a sensation similar to being inside a great cathedral
filled with stained glass windows of green, blue and
yellow. In fact, during the 1970's Tracy served as Executive
Assistant to Dr. Robert H. Schuller during the building
of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California
where her work was strongly influenced by emotional design
in architecture. The vertical power of massive trees
is featured in many of her current paintings.
Tracy's greatest joy is to paint daily either in her
studio or in the field. She can also be commissioned
to paint your favorite landscape. Please contact
her for
